Omni Associates – Architects was selected to provide full architectural and engineering services for the renovation of a former auto center by Mountain Laurel Medical Center in 2017. Mountain Laurel, based in Oakland, Maryland was looking to transform the vacant building into a community medical center.
The 7,700 SF building presented significant challenges as several additions (service bays) had been constructed over the years and all had different floor elevations. Large show room windows were present in the front of the building and the facade was a mix of masonry block and brick.
Omni Principal, Adam Rohaly led the design team and the Mountain Laurel project team through a series of programming exercise to develop a floor plan that maximized the existing space, brought natural light into the space, maintained patient privacy and created excellent workflow for the providers.
Completed in 2019, the facility features 10 Patient Exam Rooms, a Pharmacy, Lab, Behavioral Health Wing, and Executive Offices. A Break Room and private Restrooms are included for the employees as well as Restrooms, Registration and Lobby area for the patients.
