The Twin Falls Resort Lodge Addition and Renovations expanded accommodations and amenities at Twin Falls Resort State Park in West Virginia. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources selected OMNI Associates – Architects to provide architectural design services for the project.

The $7.3 million project included a 28,000-square-foot addition to the existing lodge. OMNI delivered the project through a design-bid-build approach and completed the work in 2008.

One of the main design challenges involved connecting the new wing to the existing lodge. The two areas feature different architectural styles. OMNI developed a design that brought them together while preserving the character of both.

The expansion more than doubled the lodge’s guest capacity. The number of guest rooms increased from 20 to 47, giving the park significantly more space for overnight visitors.

OMNI also added several new guest amenities. The project introduced a courtyard, indoor pool, and fitness area. Renovations transformed the lobby and improved the gift shop. In addition, larger conference rooms created more space for meetings and group events.

Accessibility also played an important role in the design. The multi-level layout of the original lodge created challenges for some visitors. In response, OMNI designed the new wing to provide a more accessible experience.

The entrance to the addition sits on the same level as the restaurant and primary conference area. An elevator provides access to the other floors. Together, these improvements make it easier for guests to move throughout the lodge.

The Twin Falls Resort Lodge Addition and Renovations expanded the facility while improving accessibility, amenities, and the overall guest experience. The project also received a 2011 ABC Excellence in Construction Award in the Commercial $5–$10 Million category.
